Telecom company Vodafone got a big relief on Thursday. The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the Bombay High Court’s order to refund Vodafone’s tax of Rs 833 crore. Along with this, the court rejected the appeal of the Central Government, which challenged the High Court’s order in view of the future dues.
The apex court said that the IT department does not have the authority to stop the refund in view of future demands. Significantly, on 26 June, the High Court had asked the Central Government to refund within 2 weeks.
