Nobel Prize-awarded Grameen Bank founder Mohammed Yunus said on Friday that the global pandemic corona virus has given the world a chance to ponder and make a “strong” bold decision to create a new system where there is no global warming. There should be uneven distribution and no unemployment. In a conversation with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Yunus called for a new beginning towards a system where there is space for informal and rural economy and for all sections of society. This conversation was part of the dialogue started by Gandhi since the outbreak of Kovid-19. Earlier Gandhi had interacted with many experts of economy and epidemiology, nurses and industrialists.
Yunus said, “Kovid has given us an opportunity to reflect on how big and bold decisions we can make.” It has given us a direction to think and we have the option to either go to the dreaded world which is going to destroy itself or else we can go somewhere else and create a new world where there is no global warming, the gap of richness and poverty. There should be no unemployment.

Emphasizing the need to identify the poor, migrants, women and the lowest strata of the society, he said, ‘Financial systems are wrongly designed. Kovid has now exposed his weaknesses. The poor are everywhere but they are not recognized in the economy. If we finance them, we will go up if we make progress. We are busy in the formal sector only.
Yunus criticized the Western economic model, saying that it recognizes the urban economy as the center and considers the rural economy as the supplier of labor. Giving the example of Grameen Bank, he asked, “Why can’t we create an autonomous economy?” He said that Grameen Bank is based on trust, not legal formalities, and it has shown that millions of dollars have been loaned to the poor with confidence. Can go and they return the original with interest. When small loans were given to women, they showed how much entrepreneurship potential they have.

He said that now the whole world has accepted micro credit. Yunus said that human culture needs to be given importance. What the world has done so far is to promote greed which has destroyed everything. The economist said, “As I said, this is the chance, Corona has given us an opportunity to think … under normal circumstances you don’t pay attention to these things.” We are so busy in making money.
