Former Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh died today. He was 64 years old. Amar Singh, who was ill for a long time, was undergoing treatment in Singapore. In March this year, he underwent surgery in a big hospital in Singapore due to his kidney disease. Amar Singh continued to be recognized as a major leader of the Samajwadi Party. Amar Singh always remained especially at the center of UP politics. He was always in discussion due to political disputes.
Amar Singh’s personality was such that even though he was surrounded by controversies in politics, his indispensability always remained. Amar Singh’s opponents considered him to be a very ambitious and a mastermind, while his supporters called him an expert in fund razors and crisis management. It is said about businessman Amar Singh that his relations were in all parties, due to which he continued to emerge as a ‘troubleshooter’.
Born in a Rajput family, Amar Singh was expelled from the Samajwadi Party in 2010 along with his special ally Jayaprada. After being expelled from SP, Amar Singh joined hands with Rashtriya Lok Dal during Lok Sabha elections and also contested from Fatehpur Sikri but lost. Even after staying out of the SP, neither the party chief Mulayam Singh could forget Amar Singh nor Amar Singh, the SP supremo. Before the 2016 assembly elections in UP, he was able to return to the party. However, due to Mulayam’s son Akhilesh’s dislike of Amar Singh, this relationship could not progress further. At the moment, Amar Singh was being said to be close to the BJP.

Amar Singh had great faith in Mulayam Singh. In 2008, the Communist Party of India withdrew its support when the UPA government proposed a nuclear deal with the US. Amar Singh was also the one who brought the corporate culture to the Samajwadi Party. However, for this he also remained on the target of opponents. Famous for his access to money, Bollywood and powerful personalities of the country, Amar Singh was a Rajya Sabha member on behalf of the SP. He was also a member of several committees of Parliament.
